Motor Insurance Claims Procedure
What to do when car accidents happen
STEP 1
Collect personal particulars of third party
If it is a chain collision, please collect all parties' information.
- Name and NRIC of the driver involved
- Contact number
- Vehicle number
- Insurance company
STEP 2
Take photos / videos at the scene of accident
- All parties' cars involved in the accident
STEP 3
Gather witness information
(if any)
- Name
- Contact number
Important: Do not admit that it is your fault when accidents happen. Call your servicing agent or insurance company for advice.
Report and Repair
- Call your insurer's 24-hour Towing Helpline for towing services if required.
- Do not accept any repairs and towing services from non-authorised workshops.
- If towing service is not required, please send your damaged vehicle to authorised workshop within 24 working hours from time of the accident.
- Should the accident involve any bodily injury to another party and the injured person requires medical leave of more than 3 days, a police report is necessary.
- If you have any video recording of the accident, please keep and provide for the report and claims.
- Should the accident involve foreign vehicle and government-owned vehicles, a police report is necessary.
- Should your car be damaged by vandalism or theft, a police report is necessary.
- Filing a report at the authorised motor accident reporting centre is mandatory regardless if you are making a claim under your policy.
- Should you receive any Writ of Summon or Letter of Demand form Third Party against you due to the accident, do not reply and forward to the Insurer immediately.
